Thailand’s largest theatre chain, Major Cineplex, partners with GDC Technology for comprehensive digital cinema installations

Hong Kong (January 6, 2014)GDC Technology Limited (“GDC Technology”), a world-leading digital cinema solutions provider, is proud to announce that it is supplying major Cineplex with a wide range of digital cinema equipment and services, including servers, projectors, 3D systems as well as cineplex management solutions through Theatre Management Systems (TMS) and Network Operations Center (NOC) for its circuit wide digital deployment.


Major Cineplex is the largest theatre chain in Thailand with over 70% market share of the Thai cinema industry’s admission revenue. It has built the firstofitskind standalone cineplex in Thailand and has been expanding its cineplex network over the past 18 years to bring a full spectrum of entertainment and film repertoire to moviegoers.


With installations and dedicated local service support provided by GDC Technologys professional engineers, the digital rollout has already begun and is expected to be concluded by early 2014, and encompasses the deployment of 289 digital cinema servers, projectors, and 34 sets of 3D systems. In addition, Major Cineplex has already deployed GDC Technologys TMS to manage and automate the running of 239 digital screens across 23theatres. In response to the expanding infrastructure of the theatre network, GDC Technologys TMS deployment is expected to further expand to the entire circuit of Major Cineplex in the coming year.


GDC Technologys TMS, which has been used by many leading exhibitors across the world, manages all content, playlists, scheduling, and reporting of a cineplex via an easytouse interface. It offers a centralized point of control for an entire cineplex and supports major DCI-compliant digital cinema projectors and servers. Currently, over 11,000 screens worldwide are successfully managed by GDC Technologys TMS and the number continues to increase with the growing global demand.
