The role of Technical Support Engineer is a hugely important position within the business and the ideal candidate will be passionate about cinema technology and will share the values of GDC Technology in striving to deliver the very best customer service and satisfaction with our technology and business partnerships.

GDC Europe is located in Barcelona, Spain, however, the ideal candidate will be considered from any location within Europe if qualifying criteria are met and the candidate has access to required travel hubs.

Responsibilities:
  • Work alongside the European Commercial and Operations team to deliver the highest quality Technical and Customer Service Support to the base of System Integrator and Cinema partners within Europe
  • Work within the wider Global Technical Service teams and liaise with colleagues from a range of regions including India, Asia-Pacific and the Americas
  • Forecasting and ensuring on-time availability of spare parts for customer needs within the European marketplace
  • Digital Cinema Equipment troubleshooting both remotely, and when required, at site level at required locations throughout Europe
  • Responsible for troubleshooting problems and sharing the root cause analysis with the wider GDC Technology Engineering team to enable ongoing development of GDC technologies
  • Supporting the European Commercial team where needed by assisting on calls and meetings (virtual and physical)
  • Attending, where necessary and appropriate, Cinema Trade events at locations throughout Europe to assist in the technical support for internal commercial teams and external partners
  • Regular calls and remote meetings with the wider GDC Engineering teams
  • Assessing the technical and training requirements of system integrators and cinema partners and offering technical training where needed both remotely and when needed, on location
Requirements:
  • Bachelor degree, equivalent or above in Electronic Engineering, Information Technology or Computer Streams
  • Minimum 3 years related working experience
  • Hands-on experience on Linux shell
  • Sound knowledge on system integration and the wider Digital Cinema ecosystem
  • Good understanding on range of Digital Cinema technologies
  • Electronic, signalling, cabling and networking knowledge
  • Possess good trouble-shooting skills
  • Languages : Must be fluent in English, with Spanish / French highly desirable
  • Can work independently with limited supervision and remotely
  • Willing to work non-standard working hours
  • Willingness and desire to Travel within Europe as required by the business and potentially at short notice
