Located in Viyyur along the Thrissur – Shoranur Road, Deepa Cinema is a well-established neighbourhood theatre serving local moviegoers with a convenient and comfortable cinema experience. As audience expectations continue to rise—particularly for premium sound—Deepa Cinema recognized the importance of upgrading its auditorium to remain competitive in an increasingly immersive cinema landscape.
To enhance engagement and deliver a more compelling theatrical experience, the cinema recently upgraded its audio system to DTS:X for IAB immersive sound, reinforcing its commitment to quality presentation and audience satisfaction.
Challenges
According to Mr. Dinesh, owner of Deepa Cinemas, many nearby theatres had already adopted immersive sound formats.
“Audiences today actively choose cinemas that offer better sound,” he explained. “Without upgrading to the latest immersive audio technology, we risk losing viewers—especially during major releases. Improving our sound was essential to staying competitive and retaining our audience.”

The solution supports 4K playback, integrates Built-in Solid-State Storage CineCache™ 2TB, and enables DTS:X for IAB Immersive Audio rendering, delivering precise and immersive sound reproduction.
The GDC SR-1000 Standalone Integrated Media Block along with AIB-3000 Cinema Audio Processor was deployed to achieve accurate sound placement and consistent performance across all content types.
UFO Moviez managed the installation and commissioning with a streamlined and efficient approach, coordinating closely with the cinema and technical partners to ensure a smooth and timely deployment of the DTS:X for IAB auditorium.
