Shaw Organization Selects GDC Technology Servers For Shaw House’s Led Video Wall And Digital Cinema Theatres

Singapore (May 16, 2006) – GDC Technology, the leading provider of digital cinema solutions is pleased to announce the commissioning of DSR™ Digital Film Servers for Shaw Organization’s Lido Cineplex which resides in the legendary Shaw House. Lido Cineplex is one of the most popular cinemas, well-attended by movie-goers of all ages in Singapore. Generations of movie-goers have watched blockbusters such as “Ben Hur”, “Lawrence of Arabia”, “My Fair Lady”, “Jurassic Park”, “Harry Potter” series and “Superman” at Shaw House. The two digital cinema halls in Lido Cineplex are equipped with GDC Technology’s SA1000 DSR™ Digital Film Servers in time for the release of blockbusters – “Mission Impossible III” and “Poseidon”; Lido Cineplex Hall 1 is Singapore’s largest digital cinema theatre with a screen width of over 17 meters and seating capacity of 780 seats. Their newest digital hall, Lido 2 is the next biggest hall with 503 seats.

Shaw Organization has also selected GDC Server for Shaw House’s new Panasonic LED video wall which is one of the largest in Singapore, measuring 11m by 6m, with a wide viewing angle of 150 degrees. The GDC Server provides the LED video wall with the highest possible image quality that is only attainable in digital cinema displays. The digital cinema auditoriums and the LED video wall are centrally controlled from the Shaw office where the audio and video are stored, monitored and programmed either locally or from a remote
location by means of a local area network.

“We are thrilled to have installed GDC servers for our digital cinema theatres and LED video wall with a central control system”, says Mr. Mark SHAW, senior manager of Shaw Theatres, “We trust that GDC’s service and quality will be of the highest standard.”

With the installation of a LED video wall server, two digital cinema servers and a central control system at Shaw House, GDC Technology’s innovation now broadens to handling of digital contents for different display technologies.

“We are proud to work with Shaw and install Shaw’s first digital cinema theatres with the central control
system to program and monitor the in-theatre and outdoor displays” says Dr Man-Nang CHONG, CEO of GDC Technology, “This is another step in the right direction in our mission in digital delivery of multimedia
information to all forms of displays that enhance the multimedia experience.”
