DTS Surround Cinema: The Clear Choice for Decision Makers
During DTS Surround Cinema demonstration, we hosted two separate blind test sessions to determine the audience’s preferred sound quality. For each session, DTS Surround Cinema reigns supreme with around 70% of cinema industry leaders favoring it over the existing sound system. The audience’s choice was clear, as the DTS Surround Cinema system exceeded the cinema’s existing sound system by threefold, solidifying its unmatched success.
Blind Test Methodology
We played a scene twice from Barbie, courtesy of Warner Bros. Once with the existing sound system (Clip A) and then we played the same scene again with GDC’s SR-1000 IMB with built-in DTS Surround audio processor (Clip B). We repeated the same process with a scene from John Wick: Chapter 4, courtesy of Lionsgate. Before we played the Barbie clip, we told the audience to select either A or B as their preferred sound quality.

The results of this blind tests were conducted among 209 cinema industry technicians, theatre managers, and executives, and 147 attendants responded to the poll.
