CineAsia 2002 welcomes GDC Technology

GDC Technology was well received at CineAsia 2002 as a new player in Digital Cinema Industry. Organizers of ITEA (International Theater Equipment Association) and CineAsia invited GDC Technology’s founder and CEO Dr. Chong to speak in the technical seminar on “Digital Update” alongside speakers from leading equipment system and technology. The other speakers included Mr. Doug Darrow of Texas Intruments, Mr. Yang Chen of China Film Group and Mr. Frank Sterling of the Boeing Company.

Shanghai Film Studio uses GDC Server for their latest film screening

China’s Shanghai Film Studio released its large budget movie "Red Snow" using MPEG2 4:2:2-DSR™ Digital Film Agile Encoder with Texas Instruments' CineLink™ encryption.

SMPTE seminar backed by GDC Technology

GDC Technology sponsored the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) seminar, "Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones - A case study in Digital Cinema", held at ETC Digital Cinema Laboratory in Hollywood, CA . The DSR™ Digital Film Agile Encoder and Server that are based on MPEG2 4:2:2 were successfully installed at the laboratory and a short documentary of "Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones" was played back round the clock on a DLP Rear Projection High Definition TV set.

GDC Technology demonstrated the Texas Instruments' CineLink™ Technology supported by DSR™ Digital Film Server at Dallas and Hollywood. CineLink™ is the secured link between the server the DLP Cinema™ projector.

GDC Technology participates at the 6th SIFF and 9th SVTF

SFI Digi-Media’s clips at the 6th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) were successfully encoded, compressed and shown with the help of GDC’s DSR™ Digital Film System. Our system was also featured at the Barco booth during the 9th Shanghai Television Festival (STVF).

GDC Technology’s founder and CEO graces the IBTC 2002 gatherings

GDC Technology also participated in the International Broadcasting Technology Conference (IBTC 2002) held at Shanghai International Conference Center. GDC Technology founder and CEO, Dr. Chong, gave a presentation entitled “Image Compression Algorithms for Digital Cinema Applications” at the IBTC 2002. The theme of the event was “Advance into Digital Times”.

GDC Technology presents new server at Infocomm 2002

GDC Technology introduced our new MPEG2 4:2:2 DSR™ Digital Film Server with high bit-rate decoder at the Christie booth during the Infocomm China Exhibition. It is currently the only digital server capable of processing MPEG2 4:2:2 format, giving 50% more color information than rival products.

China completes first Digital Cinema Theater

GDC Technology successfully installed the first digital cinema theater in China. The digital release of the feature film "The Missing Gun" on the day of opening marked the first digital release in Shanghai, China.
